A wide range of tests are available for assessing hearing. These include audiometry, tympanometry (for determining the presence of middle ear fluid), play audiometry, visual reinforcement audiometry (VRA), speech audiometry and otoacoustic emissions testing.

Adult hearing

Hearing loss in adults can generallly occur gradually. Depending on the degree fo hearing loss present it may be possible to hear some sounds clearly and others not so much. Typically peope in this scenario can find it difficult to hear clearly in a group or in background noise. If you are unsure of your hearing it is worthwhile having it checked by a clinical audiologist.

Hearing loss can occur in many different forms from mild hearing loss to profound hearing loss and can sometimes only occur in one ear. At Corcoran Hearing we have a hearing aid for literally all forms of hearing loss.
